MV AGUSTA F4 2018 SPECIAL SRIES LOOKAROUND LE MOTO FEATURES AND INDEPTH...

DESIGN
The customisation that led to the creation of the F4 LH44 was based on a continuous, direct, dialogue between the British Formula 1 champion and the CRC (Castiglioni Research Center) workshop where every MV Agusta takes shape. Ideas, suggestions, preferences, perception: the creative process was long, with attention paid to the bike’s every last detail. Each individual idea was meticulously assessed and checked in terms of its feasibility, flair and functionality. Thorough analysis and creative comparison have made the F4 LH44 much more than just a custom project: it is, rather, an unprecedented, un-repeatable interpretation of the F4.

SUSPENSION
With the F4 LH44, the quest for a refined colour scheme extends to the suspension set-up that boasts premium suspension components: an Öhlins USD NIX 30 TiN-coated fork – which offers separately adjustable hydraulic response in compression (left tube) and rebound (right tube), plus pre-load – and an Öhlins TTX 36 rear shock with piggyback reservoir, which, again, can be mechanically adjusted. The colour of the fork and rear shock further heighten the uniqueness of the F4 LH44; the striking black anodized fork outer tubes are the result of a specific agreement with Öhlins. Let’s not forget that this Swedish company has made gold outer tubes one of its hallmarks. The rear spring and shock reservoir are also black, enhancing the sense of exclusivity.

DETAILS
The seat, which retains the much-appreciated racing ergonomics seen on the F4 RC, is hand made using top quality materials such as natural leather and Alcantara, a winning combination on a par with the very best automotive craftsmanship. Colour continues to play a starring role on the engine. All-black, right down to its select, lightweight magnesium alloy parts, it offers at-a-glance panache and a real racing feel. The smoked screen – a first for an F4 production model – polishes the front end styling to perfection. Extensive use of carbon fibre in components such as the main fairing sections makes for a lightweight bike that boasts outstanding visual gusto thanks to an alternating gloss-matt paint pattern, just one of the many unique features on the F4 LH44. Dedicated components include a racing-style fuel cap, forged wheels and unique items such as the rear wheel nut which, on the F4 LH44, has been CNC machined after anodization.

TIRES
Making the MV Agusta F4 LH44 even more exclusive are the Pirelli DIABLO™ Supercorsa SP tyres (120/70 ZR 17 at the front and 200/55 ZR 17 at the rear), specifically designed by Pirelli for the 44 edition of the F4 Lewis Hamilton bikes. These special-edition Pirelli DIABLO™ Supercorsa SP tyres stand out for their red sidewalls, which sport the LH44 logo, comprising Hamilton’s initials and race number. Given the exclusiveness of the bike, the tyres just had to be Pirelli DIABLO™ Supercorsa SPs, road-approved tyres that offer outstanding racetrack performance.

BMW 3 SERIES SHADOW EDITION 2018 WALKAROUND EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR INDEPT...

BMW 3 SERIES SHADOW EDITION 2018 WALKAROUND EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR INDEPTH REVIEW

EXTERIOR DESIGN.

The BMW 3 Series Sedan systematically continues the design tradition and features of the BMW brand. The sportingly elegant exterior creates the effect of coming from one single mould and conveys aesthetics and dynamics at first sight. Even in its sixth generation, the most frequently sold BMW vehicle in the world sets standards.

Inspired by a rich model history, the heart of the BMW brand appears in a modern and powerful design – always convincing with its BMW-typical proportions. Combined with the headlights, the striking BMW kidney grille forms a harmonious unit and follows on from the front design of earlier models, thus emphasising the breadth and sporting character of the vehicle. For the first time, itexploits the full effect of the kidney grille from the side.

A view from the side highlights the precise contours. Extended, ascending lines stretch the vehicle optically, giving it enhanced dynamic character. In this way the forward-striving front end transforms into the bonnet in one striking move. As a result, the vehicle appears as if in motion and very agile. Preise contorours delineate firm surfaces– which have always been characteristics of the iconic compact sports sedan.

INTERIOR DESIGN.

The interior of the BMW 3 Series Sedan impresses with its high-quality selection of materials. It encloses the driver with classical driver guidance, creating a cockpit feeling. Skilful space design gives optimum access to all the important control functions on the instrument display.

The instrument panel opens up to the driver and allows convenient access to the controls. All the design lines converge in one point behind the steering wheel, thus directing the driver’s view fully onto the road.

On the driver’s side of the deliberately asymmetrically designed centre console, a change from decorative surface and grain optically highlights the driver’s section of the interior. On the front passenger side, an elegant atmosphere is created by the instrument panel that displays the decorative trim giving it an ornamental effect. Conveniently accessible for both passengers and in the middle part of the central console is the iDrive Controller.

The free-standing iDrive monitor with its slim, high-resolution display is positioned on the

EDITION SPORT “SHADOW”.

The BMW 3 Series Edition Sport “Shadow” exudes unadulterated dynamics. Striking design elements in Black high-gloss underscore the forceful appearance of the exterior. And on the inside, numerous details ensure an even more athletic profile.

kawasaki ninja 1000 ABS 2019 WALKAROUND INDEPTH REVIEW FEATURES EXHAUST...

Engine - It is largely unchanged since it's launch in 2011 except a few updated to the clutch to add clutch assist and slipper clutch a few years back. It is a 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled with a displacement 1,043cc putting out 142 bhp @10,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 111 N.m @7,300 rpm. Even at Low power mode it displaces 70% of it's power i.e. about 100 bhp!! But then why change something which is bulletproof. It has a solid reputation and I concur with whatever I have heard about this engine. There is a slight initial harshness as can be expected with any brand new engine which I have been told will smoothen out after the first service at 1000kms and once the bike has broken-in past 1600kms. So for the initial 800kms I am keeping the rpm levels down to 4k levels which means I should not be exceeding 85-90kmph. Post 800kms I can take the bike to 6k rpm till it reaches 1600kms. I am sticking to that for the time being. And have really not used the bike to it's potential which can only be done after the bike has been fully broken in. I have kept the bike at LOW power mode with Traction control at Level 2 (Level 3 is the most intrusive but is mostly for wet conditions) as recommended by the service technician till the break in is completed. Overall the engine is just a peach till now. It scared me a bit when I tried testing it's potential on the first day. It has so much power that right now I feel I am not using 20% (at 70-80kmph) of what it is capable of. Also it has a electronic speed limiter (as per wikipedia) because this engine is capable of exceeding 300 kmph in unrestricted form. However it is still capable of exceeding 250kmph even with this limiter in place. Now that's scary on our roads and therefore requires a mature head behind the bars. As I mentioned before, the engine oil used is of SAE 10W-40 grade and the dealership uses Motul 300V as standard. Capacity is 4.0L when completely dry, otherwise 3.8L is used on every oil change with the oil filter replacement. Though the company specifies a oil and oil filter change period of 12000kms (after the initial one at 1000 kms), I would recommend it to be changed at each service every 6000 kms keeping the Indian conditions in mind. Air cleaner element needs to be replaced every 18000 kms, the Coolant every 36000 kms or 3 years (capacity is 2.9L), Spark Plugs every 12000kms and the Brake Fluid every 2 years, as specified in the manual.

Gearbox - Now that another gem. Butter smooth and with a positive neutral finder. And the gearing is a little short. In 5th and 6th you can easily potter around whole day in the city without feeling the need to shift down. I could easily use the 6th gear for speeds as low as 30kmph. So to think that it can do 30-250 in 6th is quite remarkable.

Clutch - Again no issues. Light and responsive. The levers as I mentioned are adjustable for reach according to the size of one's hands. Also it has Clutch assist and Slipper Clutch as standards, though I am yet to use those capabilities. Read more about all these and more Kawasaki capabilities that are included in the bike here - https://www.kawasaki-cp.khi.co.jp/te..._clutch_e.html

Suspension and Wheels - The front suspension is a 41mm inverted cartridge fork with stepless compression and rebound damping, adjustable spring preload with a wheel travel of upto 4.7 in while the Rear is a Horizontal monoshock with stepless rebound damping, remotely adjustable spring preload and with a additional wheel travel upto 5.7 in. No grouses there too. But I feel the wheel rims are made of softer aluminum alloy because they are more calibrated for perhaps the butter smooth roads of the West. Though the softer compound is good that on very bad roads it may bend a little rather than crack and can be easily set back in shape. Will have to wait and see how it copes with our actual riding conditions.

Handling and Ride Quality - The tyres are grippy. Though I have not tried any heavy cornering yet, the handling is very neutral and good and I do not foresee any issues there. Though the bike weighs 239 kgs for the Indian version (although I have taken out the saree guard and front plates to reduce the weight back to 235 kgs) the ride quality is quite smooth. Even with some heavy cross wind in yesterday's 100km ride, I could not feel the bike budge. The bike did not bottom out anywhere till now with it's 130mm of ground clearance even on our pretty bad NH58. Minimum turning radius is 3.1m.

Braking - The Front Brakes are of Dual 300mm petal-type rotors with radial-mount 4-piston monobloc calipers and ABS and the Rear Brakes are a Single 250mm petal-type rotor with single-piston caliper and ABS. Both are manufactured by Nissin and have very good bite.

Ergonomics - I found the ergonomics to be spot on for my height (6') and weight (slightly heavy...lolz). The stance is a little forward and I did feel I could add a small riser to the handlebar to be more ideal for me. Though The Versys 650's stance and comfort would be slightly more than on this bike. On the 100kms ride yesterday I was less tired than I would have been on my Heritage and the seat is also comfortable enough. I can very well see myself doing 1000kms per day on this bike, if needed, with slight help for a air cushion pad.

Extra Storage - As I mentioned that the extra panniers (side bags) are a costly affair on this bike (nearly a lac) but then this bike is incomplete without those. Will plan those shorty.

So it's time to say good bye for now with some parting shots

PORSCHE CAYENNE TURBO 2018 EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR WALKAROUND REVIEW TOP SPEED

Sports car together: That’s the pitch of Porsche’s 70th anniversary celebrations in 2018, encouraging customers and fans of the brand to share in its storied history. In more ways than one, the full-sized Cayenne might be the perfect vehicle to accomplish that task.
Describing the model in official literature as a “four door sports car”, Porsche is adamant the 2.2-tonne SUV deserves to sit alongside its iconic 911 in showrooms around the world. An all-new model introduced for 2018 backs that claim with less weight, more power and clever technology with the potential to deliver driving thrills.
Customers choose from three variants at launch – V6-powered Cayenne or Cayenne S models and the V8-powered Cayenne Turbo. A hybrid version will arrive in the third quarter of 2018, followed by a diesel variant in the first half of 2019.
Priced from $166,300 plus on-road costs, the Standard Cayenne features 19-inch wheels which grow to 20 inches on the $155,100 Cayenne S and 21 inches for the $239,400 Turbo.
All three enjoy a reasonably strong level of standard kit including leather seats, a powered tailgate and high-definition digital displays throughout the cabin. Powerful LED headlights with four-point LED daytime running lights feature across the range, though dynamic matrix lighting is reserved for the Cayenne S and Turbo.
The latter pair also benefit from luxury touches including a panoramic sunroof, heated seats, a 14-speaker Bose stereo and adaptive air suspension – all optional on the base model. Front and rear parking sensors are augmented by a high-resolution 360-degree camera system on all three versions, joining driver aids such as pedestrian detection with mild emergency braking. Other features such as adaptive cruise control and massaging seats are costly optional extras.
As ever, Porsche offers immense potential for customisation. Cayenne owners can add more than $150,000 in optional extras through the brand’s online configurator, or go even further with individual personalisation through the remarkable Porsche Exclusive department.

The Cayenne’s cockpit follows the recently-updated Panamera with a tech-laden, beautifully-finished cabin. Backlit, glasslike gloss black control surfaces surrounding a new gear selector combine with a pin-sharp 12.3-inch central widescreen display and Porsche’s answer to the trend for digital driver readouts – a pair of 7-inch display screens either side of a traditional tachometer and compact digital speedo.
The result rivals the best SUVs on the road for interior presentation, lifting the Cayenne well clear of its Audi Q7 cousin.
Ergonomics are always a strong point at Porsche, and the Cayenne’s relationship between seat, steering wheel and pedals feels correct. The Cayenne Turbo is particularly appealing, thanks to well-bolstered sports seats with integrated headrests and 14-way electric adjustment.
Surprisingly practical, the Cayenne offers a sliding rear bench and reclining backrest with 745 litres of rear cargo space, along with connectivity touches ranging from a Wi-Fi hotspot and four USB points to three 12 Volt power outlets.
As ever, the most important power source lies under the bonnet.
Customers get a choice of three engines at launch – the regular Cayenne’s 3.0-litre single-turbo V6 serves up 250kW and 350Nm outputs, while the twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 in the Cayenne S offers 324kW and 550Nm. At the top of the range, the Cayenne Turbo’s mighty twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 brings 404kW and 770Nm.
Every model drives all four wheels through a revised eight-speed automatic transmission featuring a shorter first gear for improved acceleration and a taller top ratio to reduce fuel consumption.
Paired with launch control available as part of the $2690 Sport Chrono option pack, those gears allow the Cayenne Turbo to rip to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds – a match for proper performance cars such as the BMW M4 CS, Audi RS5 Coupe or track-ready KTM X-Bow.
Automatic stop-start and coasting features help the big wagon save fuel, resulting in official 11.7L/100km economy. As is often the case for premium vehicles with off-road pretentions, the Cayenne features dedicated drive modes accommodating a variety of surfaces including gravel, rocks and mud.
Capable of wading through 500mm of water – a particularly brave feat as the Cayenne lacks a proper spare wheel – Porsche promises the SUV is comfortable with more than mild off-roading. We took it on a few rocky trails at the model’s launch in South Australia, coming away relatively impressed with its capabilities, but questioning whether anyone would buy a Porsche to conquer the unknown.
More useful is a 3.5-tonne maximum towing capacity likely to be put to use with all manner of boatshorse floats, and car trailers housing no-doubt tasty machines.
Yes, you could tow a sports car behind the Cayenne. But isn’t that beside the point?
Isn’t this supposed to be a four-door sports car?
To answer that question, we punted a Cayenne Turbo up, down and across the Adelaide Hills.
The result isn’t straightforward. No, the Cayenne is not a sports car in the same vein as a Mazda MX-5, or even BMW’s four-door M3.
But in the same way that a hulking prop forward is still a sportsman and athlete, the Cayenne Turbo delivers a surprisingly dynamic driving experience – it’s the brute force of enormous brake discs gripped by 10-piston calipers, of more than 400kW tearing at the tarmac through 315mm-wide rear tyres, of a 2.2-tonne four-wheel-drive pounding through the scenery at 286km/h... in theory, at least.
Smart people worked hard to help this wagon move in a manner it has no right to.
The Turbo is planted, predictable and surprisingly nimble, helped by hardware such as rear axle steering ($4590), three-chamber air suspension, active roll stabilisers, torque vectoring ($3590) and supercar-style staggered tyres.
Weighing in around 65 kilograms lighter than its predecessor – or 225kg lighter than the original Cayenne – the range-topping Turbo features 415mm front brake rotors finished in a hardened tungsten carbide treatment promising to reduce wear. Positioned between conventional metal and optional carbon ceramic brakes, the new items cost twice as much as iron rotors to replace, and can be spotted from the outside through gleaming white calipers – a bold design choice reflecting the technology’s reduction in brake dust.
Powerful but somewhat grabby when cold, those brakes are helped by active aerodynamics taking the form of a subtle rear spoiler that stands up under braking in a similar manner to the tail piece on Bugatti’s Veyron or the McLaren P1. Coming into effect at speeds above 170km/h, the air brake is said to shave two metres from a 250km/h emergency stop.
Back in the real world, the Turbo offers remarkable poise when changing direction, challenging expectations if asked tough questions when cornering. Helped by suspension riding 20mm lower than regular models, the Cayenne Turbo retains its poise when challenged. And that bellowing V8 brings a red-blooded, muscle car soundtrack no doubt welcomed by enthusiasts.
All three Cayenne variants are great to drive, but the one that comes closest to delivering Porsche’s sports car promise is the Turbo – partly because of its stronger engine, but also because it serves up superior poise.
